Since the release, nearly 2,000 dentists have purchased the introductory UA Performance Mouthwear Launch Kit, which includes a model of the mouthpiece as well as marketing tools to introduce the product to patients. Dr. Julianne Digiorno, who runs Digiorno Dental Fitness in Folsom, Calif., with her father, Dr. Anthony Digiorno, purchased the Launch Kit after she read about it in the July/August issue of Compendium. So far, her patients are intrigued by the product. “Some of our runners are interested to see if the appliance will increase their endurance. It seems that the people who are the most competitive are the most interested,” she says.

Dr. Bruce Stewart of Comstock Park, Mich., purchased a Launch Kit based on “the upside potential to improve an athlete’s performance without medicine or supplements.” To market the product, he plans to select six athletic patients varying in age and let them use the product for free, as a way of validating the mouthwear.
