Jaw-Dropping Performance
The proof is in the science

Patterson Dental’s exclusive new product, Under Armour Performance MouthwearTM powered by ArmourBite Technology®, is changing the lives of athletes all across the United States. Developed by scientists at Minneapolis-based Bite Tech, Inc., the mouthwear line prevents the teeth from clenching together and pivots the jaw down and forward. This relieves pressure on the TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) and opens airways, reducing levels of lactate and cortisol, a stress hormone. Athletes from football players to golfers to bikers and runners are discovering that with UA Performance Mouthwear, they’re able to play harder, move faster and endure longer at their sport.

Last September, Bite Tech partnered with performance sports apparel company Under Armour to bring the UA Performance Mouthpiece and UA Performance Mouthguard, as well as an alloy version of the mouthpiece, to the general public. Because the Performance Mouthwear can only be fitted by an Authorized Dental Provider, Bite Tech and Under Armour partnered exclusively with Patterson Dental to bring the ArmourBite Technology to dentists and their patients.

A new product, especially one that makes such extraordinary claims, however, is bound to generate some skepticism. However, independent studies conducted at some of the nation’s top universities and research centers have proven the undeniable advantages of UA Performance Mouthwear.

“I was very skeptical,” says Dr. Dena Garner from the Department of Health, Exercise and Sport Science, The Citadel. After studying the product, however, she and her colleagues found many benefits. “Our data suggests that the use of this product would improve performance,” she says. “I don’t run without my mouthpiece now.”

Trevor Moawad, MA, director of IMG Performance Institute, agrees. “It’s not a placebo, this is something that legitimately adds value, helps [athletes] feel good…Clearly the technology is working.”
