Merging Practices

Dr. Irwin merged three dental practices over the course of several years and at one time had five experienced dentists in one office. That presented a unique challenge for the Patterson team, who wanted to help Dr. Irwin and his team streamline their supplies ordering process.

Patterson Sales Representative Pat Bottiger gathered all of the assistants, hygienists and front-office staff in Irwin Dental Center’s brand-new second floor meeting space to discuss the supplies they were using, from cements to impressioning systems. “They have so many staff members now that we came up with the idea that we were going to get everyone on the same page regarding their supplies,” he said. “They couldn’t buy in bulk and it was costing more money to buy different products.”

The solution was getting input from everyone, then turning to the more experienced assistants and hygienists to make the call about what worked and what didn’t. Bottiger helped the group come to a consensus, Dr. Irwin gave his input as well and soon everyone was on the same page.
