“It was one legal lesson after another,” Dr. Jain said. “It was good to have Dean on my side, because he was able to sort through these things with the interior contractor. Any novice would have given up on the job because it was so complicated. Patterson was knowledgeable and able to guide me in the right direction, and that took a big stress off me.”
Making It Work
East Madison Dental officially opened the doors on its new practice in April and celebrated with a grand opening in June. More than 300 patients and people from the community attended, touring the facility and admiring the “transitional design,” as Dr. Jain calls it.

Every patient who visits the practice also receives a tour, highlighted by the A-dec Preference ICC Sterilization System. The doctor, his wife and his assistant, Maria, traveled to the A-dec factory in Newburg, Ore., undecided about which equipment manufacturer they would choose for the practice. Once there, however, Dr. Jain said, “A-dec was a no-brainer. It took a lot of stress off my back, knowing someone had thought through my needs beforehand.”
A feature of the sterilization center that Dr. Jain appreciates is air-driven doors, a more hygienic approach that also wows patients. And a Miele Dental Disinfector relieved the doctor’s concerns about his staff and their handling of instruments. “For 15 years, instruments were cleaned by staff members. They were only stuck twice, but it was still heart-wrenching. Now, everything is cassette-based, which is a huge help.”
Maria requested an A-dec ICV vacuum line cleaning system, a cabinet accessory that quickly purges the saliva ejector and HVE vacuum lines. “I love that thing!” she said.
Dean and Sherry suggested dual entry operatories, which were readily accommodated by A-dec treatment and accessory consoles. When combined with an A-dec delivery system and 12 O’Clock assistant’s instrumentation, efficiency is at its peak, allowing patients to sit back for treatments with nothing between them and a television for entertainment or patient education.
