For his patients, Dr. Jain found perfect seating: the A-dec 511 chair, with preset features that make it easy to get right to work. “What makes East Madison Dental truly special is their philosophy regarding technology,” Dean Merolle said. “Technology makes this practice more efficient.”
Enjoying the Outcome
Thanks to his IT background, Dr. Jain has been comfortable using cutting-edge technology in his office since he began practicing. East Madison Dental was paperless before it was in vogue, and Dr. Jain has been using CEREC for six years and GALILEOS for four years. “We perform a considerable number of implants in the office, so it’s nice that the two technologies integrate,” he said.

Matt O’Malley said the doctor’s passion for technology translates into top-notch patient care. “He doesn’t dabble, he takes the courses, learns what he needs to know, stays current through continuing education.… He’s an early adopter using technology to its fullest potential.”
The Patterson design team dedicated a full room in the practice to house Dr. Jain’s CEREC MC XL milling unit and the GALILEOS 3D panoramic X-ray. Located in between two treatment operatories, and adjacent to the sterilization center and lab, the centralized location simplifies workflow and allows patients to see the practice’s cutting-edge technologies in action.
The majority of the practice is visibly open to patients, who enter from the reception area on one side of the welcome desk and exit on the other. Sunlight pours in through the operatory windows and, thanks to the dual entry feature, floods the office interior. “I love my windows. Just to have sunlight coming in is enough of a change for me,” Dr. Jain said, citing the lack of windows in his previous office.
An interior designer brought the doctor’s vision to life through the use of unique design materials, such as veneered burl wood wallpaper and sturdy base molding made out of rubber. “I wanted a very high-end, upscale feel. There are no photos of teeth in the office. It’s as low-key as possible, almost spa-like,” Dr. Jain said. “Patients come in and say, ‘Wow, I don’t feel like I’m in a dental office. I feel like I’m in a five-star hotel!’”
The scope of Dr. Jain’s project was considerable, in terms of time and investment. Stress was an assumed side effect, until Dr. Jain realized that his Patterson team was taking care of the big questions and challenges that inevitably arise during any practice build.
“It’s really important to have the proper team,” Dr. Jain said. “As far as your advisors go, they should have enough experience to guide you through the process. Dean and Matt were with me the length of the project and they really reduced my stress level.”
