In her vision, Dr. Calleros was practicing in a hip, modern clinic, and she started looking, with the help of her Patterson Dental team. She had a very specific idea of what she wanted and was unwavering in looking for it. “A long time ago, I said I wanted an office that looked like a spa,” she said. “That was before spa dentistry became popular. I didn’t want a traditional, black-and-tan, clinical, sterile office. I wanted it to be sassy – modern and sassy.”

The Patterson team worked hand in hand with Dr. Calleros while trying to find the right space for years. There were even times when Dr. Calleros herself was tiring of the search and willing to settle for a satisfactory location, but knowing her vision, the Patterson team talked her out of it. “I met [Patterson Territory Representative] John Wilhovsky and [Patterson Branch Manager] Jason Owens years ago and we looked and looked and I knew exactly what I wanted and I couldn’t find it,” she said. “It was just a matter of timing. You know, they say things happen when they’re supposed to, and things just fell right into place.”
By partnering with Dr. Calleros in her vision, the Patterson team knew what she wanted and their job was to help her achieve it. Wilhovsky said being part of the process was a career highlight for him – not just to see a dream office built, but to partner with the dentist who moved into it. When they found the right space, everyone on the team knew immediately. A storefront in one of El Segundo’s main commercial areas, the practice is in walking distance from the beach. For a doctor who had always wanted a modern, spa-style dental practice, it was perfect. The team sprung into action. From the moment Dr. Calleros signed the lease, it was a shade over three months until she was practicing in the space, which had previously been a tanning salon.
Construction itself took only five weeks.
“When we said we were going to start seeing patients on April 4, [2011,] nobody believed us,” Dr. Calleros said. “Like, oh sure, contractors always tell you that.”
The process went more quickly because Dr. Calleros had time to prepare – she already had financing in place, contractors lined up (including her brother and father, who were the main electricians on the project) and ideas for what she wanted to do with the space. Still, no one on the team had ever been a part of such a quick turnaround. And the results were equally impressive.
A Beautiful Space
Dr. Calleros’ vision turned out beautifully. She finally had the hip, modern practice she’d dreamed of. Her new office is so impressive that even a year after moving there she’s gaining about 40 new patients a month, most of them walk-ins. People stroll into El Segundo from the beach to eat or shop and they’re so impressed with this facility – this dental practice – that they have to stop in. And then they’re hooked.
“We’re right on the street so people just walk right in,” Dr. Calleros said. “Every month. We’ve had so many new patients. They see the office and they pop in and they make an appointment.”
