A few months after opening her new practice, the amazing growth encouraged Dr. Calleros to purchase a CEREC. It was always her intention to add CEREC, but she didn’t expect to be able to do it so soon. Its impact on the way she practices was immediate. Fortunately, she had the foresight to plan for CEREC in her floor plan.
“The first time I saw CEREC, as soon as I saw what it did, I knew I wanted it,” Dr. Calleros said. “It was just a matter of time until I got one. And I got it before I thought I would. We knew it was coming, so there’s plenty of space to roll that machine in and out from room to room.”
CEREC is one of the items Dr. Calleros was able to cross off her wish list, though she admits there’s still plenty on it. In selecting her equipment, she relied heavily on her Patterson team and trusted their judgment – including on her sterilization center. She was going to select a smaller unit, but elected for the A-dec Preference ICC Sterilization Center. She hasn’t regretted it. “In our old office, we had a tiny, walk-in [sterilization] room,” she said. “Now, it’s completely exposed to patients and it always looks clean. Some of them may not even know it’s a sterilization area, actually. You’ll never see dirty instruments; everything’s got a place and everything’s put away. We have to say as we walk by, ‘This is where we sterilize instruments,’ because they don’t know.”

The Human Impact
The effect on staff at Calleros Dental was immediate. Everyone is happier, Dr. Calleros said, and sometimes she even has trouble getting her staff to go home at the end of the day. They just enjoy being in the new space.
“Everybody’s just more comfortable at work now,” she said. “We all just really appreciate the new design and the comfort and the quality of the new equipment. Dentistry is stressful enough; when you have high-quality equipment that is working well, it’s just so much less stressful.”
The office is breathtaking enough to draw in patients off the street, but that’s not the only new business it’s generating. Equipment Specialist Johns is among the customers who converted to Dr. Calleros in her new space. She has also been impressed with how many of her long-term customers have sent new patients to her practice – patients that they didn’t send her way at her old office.
“A lot of people who were longtime customers who weren’t even bringing their spouses or children in, now they’re bringing in coworkers,” she said. “It’s an office that when people go home or to their workplace, they’re talking about it. They talk about the new crown they just had put in, in one appointment. They talk about how nice and modern the office is. They talk about how their old office wasn’t like this. They’ve never been in an office like ours before.”
